Italian giants Juventus are confident of signing Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte this summer, according to Italian media outlet Corriere Dello Sport via Manchester Evening News.

Juventus have reportedly contacted Manchester City to enquire about the availability of Laporte this summer.

The report claims Manchester City consider Laporte as ‘transferable’ this summer and are open to doing a deal if Juventus submits an offer with the right price.

Juventus boss Maximiliano Allegri is keen on strengthening his defence this summer as he seeks to build a title winning team for next season after Juventus finished fourth and has identified Laporte as the ideal signing.

Laporte has been instrumental to the Blues’ success this season. The 28-year-old made 44 appearances during the 2021/22 campaign and was widely praised for playing through injury in the last two games of the season to help City get over the line in the Premier League title race.

Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini will leave the Italian club this summer after 17 years and Allegri believes Laporte is the ideal signing to replace the legendary Juventus captain.

Meanwhile, Laporte gave an update recently after playing the final two games of the season for Manchester City with an injury.

Laporte said: “Hello everyone. As you may have read, unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend the National team next games, because of the injury I picked up against Wolves that will need further treatment.

“I have been uncomfortable with my knee since then, but I wanted to help the team to the end and I am glad I did so. Now that the season is over, I will follow the medical process and start rehab to get back to full fitness quickly.”

He concluded: “We have another very exciting season ahead of us with big goals to achieve. Thanks for the messages and support, see you on the pitch, Ayme.”
