Manchester City star shortlisted for PFA Player of the Year award

Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is in with a chance of winning a record third PFA Players’ Player of the Year award after being named on the six-man shortlist for the 2021/22 prize.

De Bruyne is up against the Liverpool trio of Virgil Van Dijk, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United for the prestigious annual accolade which he has won in each of the previous two seasons.

The 30-year-old scored a career-high 19 goals and provided 13 assists in all competitions as Manchester City won a fourth Premier League title in five years.

The winner will be revealed on 9 June.

De Bruyne was named the Premier League’s Player of the Season for the 2021-22 campaign in May.
