‘I want this Manchester United transfer target’ – Pep Guardiola tells Manchester City board

Manchester City have joined the race for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong who is wanted by Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, according to Utd Plug.

The new Manchester United has made the Barcelona midfielder a priority signing this summer but Manchester City have now joined the race with Guardiola seeking a replacement for outgoing midfielder Fernandinho.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are also said to have joined the race for the 25 year old Dutch midfielder.

With De Jong keen on playing Champions League football next season, Manchester City have the edge of Manchester United, who play Europa League football next season.
