Spanish side Barcelona are interested in signing Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva this summer.

It is the second successive summer that Barcelona are making a move to sign the 27 year old Manchester City midfielder.

According to The Mirror, Manchester City will demand in excess of £80million should Barcelona make their interest in Bernardo Silva formal.

Barcelona want to sell Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United and replace the Dutch midfielder with Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva.

Manchester City were willing to let Silva join Barcelona last summer after the midfielder asked to be allowed to move to Spain for family reasons but Barcelona were unavailable to raise Manchester City’s asking price.

Manchester City are now more determined keep Silva at the club for next season after the midfielder played a key role to help the Blues win the Premier League.

Silva amassed 13 goals and 7 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions, playing an instrumental role in Manchester City’s Premier League title defence.

The Mirror also adds that Barcelona coach Xavi is a huge admirer of Silva and is ready to sacrifice De Jong to raise the funds to sign Silva this summer.

However, the Manchester City board are adamant that Barcelona selling De Jong to Manchester United won’t raise enough funds to make Manchester City sell Bernardo Silva.

Manchester City are in a strong position to decide Silva’s future as the Portuguese international has three years left on his Manchester City contract.

The Blues intend to keep him at the club despite interest from Barcelona and offer him a new contract.

Speaking about his future last week, Bernardo told O Jogo: “Unfortunately, I won’t be able to answer, because I’m at the service of the national team and super focused on the game that remains.

“When the season ends, we’ll see what happens.”

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola also insisted last week that a move to Barcelona for Bernardo Silva will be difficult.

When asked about a potential move to Camp Nou for Silva, Guardiola replied: “They will have a difficult time [signing Bernardo].”

Barcelona will have to accept that they are too broke to sign a player like Manchester City star Bernardo Silva.
