Manchester City would only allow Nathan Ake leave for Chelsea if an offer of £50million is received and a replacement is found for the defender.

Chelsea are desperate to sign defenders this summer following the departures of Andreas Christensen to Barcelona and Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is reportedly a huge fan of Nathan Ake and would like to take the Dutch central defender back to Stamford Bridge.

Ake spent seven years on Chelsea’s books before leaving to join Bournemouth in 2017 and then eventually Manchester City in 2020.

Manchester City are demanding £50million for Ake as it will take the club more than that to replace the Dutch centre-back.

Ake is one of just four senior players in the centre-back position at the club — and so there is no current intention to sell him.

Given Ake joined Manchester City from Bournemouth for £41million and still has three years left on his contract, £50million is a fair price for the Dutch centre-back.

Ake isn’t the only Manchester City player that Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel wants to sign this summer.

Tuchel is also interested in signing Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling and City left-back/midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Ake has made 40 appearances for Manchester City since joining from Bournemouth in 2020.
