Plans are gradually hitting gear for the resumption of football action, with the start of the 2022/23 Premier League season now just about a month away.

Manchester City players remain on a much-needed holiday, after the impressive season we enjoyed, which culminated in yet another Premier League title.

But we are made to understand that it’s just a matter of days now until Manchester City stars back to the club for pre-season training.

Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City stars will begin their pre-season training on July 11, before taking a trip to the United States, where they’ll be playing some teams.

New signings Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, Kalvin Phillips and Stefan Ortega Moreno are all expected to be a part of the traveling team.

However Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus will likely be missing, as they’re both expected to complete their transfers to Chelsea and Arsenal, respectively by that time.

Pep Guardiola is also expected to test some of our youngsters and fringe players during the tour, as the Spaniard finalises his squad for the coming season.

Manchester City will play Bayern Munich and Club America while on tour, with a tie against Liverpool in the Community Shield also set before the Premier League’s opening weekend on August 5.

Meanwhile, the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are ahead of us in terms of pre-season preparations, with most of Erik ten Hag’s men already available at Carrington for training, and will be jetting out for their tour next week.

Liverpool players are expected to return at the start of the coming week, while Thomas Tuchel’s men return toward the end of it.
