Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has claimed Liverpool and not Manchester City will win the Premier League title next season.

Manchester City pipped Liverpool to the crown by a point last season, as we did in the 2018/19 campaign. It was Pep Guardiola’s fourth league success in five years.

Despite improving the squad by signing Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Julian Alvarez and Stefan Ortega, Graeme Souness doesn’t see Manchester City winning the Premier League title next season.

Souness told Sky Sports: “I think Liverpool will win it. They came so close last year.”

However, Manchester United legend Roy Keane has backed Manchester City to win the Premier League title next season.

Keane said when asked who will win the Premier League title next season: “Man City. Brilliant players, they’ve obviously improved, an unbelievable striker and they’ve got one of the greatest managers ever in Pep.”

Meanwhile, new Manchester City signing Julian Alvarez revealed during his unveiling that he feels more comfortable playing closer to goal but admits he can play from the wings.

“Manchester City has a lot of history with Argentinians before but I came here to create my own history, my own path,” said Alvarez.

“In Argentina we are used to interest from Europe. It’s our dream to play there because they are the best leagues and clubs.

“City is one of the best clubs. so I was very excited (when I learned of the move). I worked very hard and I am very excited to be here now.

“I can play in different positions. In the centre or in wings. I feel comfortable playing close to the box because it helps me score goals, but I like to assist my teammates.

“I want to play and contribute. I want to win trophies, the Premier League and Champions League.

“I’m going to give my best to adapt as soon as possible and contribute and play as soon as possible.”
