Manchester City star Nathan Ake won’t be joining Premier League rivals Chelsea, according to The Athletic.

Chelsea had shown strong interest in re-signing the 27-year-old and were hopeful a transfer could be completed.

However, Nathan Ake is now set to remain at the Etihad Stadium with Manchester City unwilling to let the 27 year old leave the valuation of the player is met.

It is believed that Ake is pleased to be remaining at City, where he is a popular member of the squad.

The Athletic also adds that the decision of Ake to remain at Manchester City is mutual, with Pep Guardiola happy for the 27 year old to be a Manchester City player next season. Guardiola believes Ake’s versatility is crucial to the club and represents great strength in depth.

The potential transfer to Chelsea did not advance because the terms of the deal were not right for City.

Meanwhile, Premier League rivals Arsenal are interested in signing Manchester City left-back/midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City will move for Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella should Oleksandr Zinchenko join Arsenal.

Romano tweeted: “Manchester City are still targeting Marc Cucurella, no changes – talks will enter into important stages in case Oleksandr Zinchenko joins Arsenal. City are open to let Zinchenko leave this summer.

“Arsenal working on Zinchenko deal. Sergio Gómez, back up option.”
