Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo has been offered to Premier League champions Manchester City as a replacement for Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is set to join Arsenal, according to Manchester Evening News.

Manchester City want to replace Zinchenko by signing Marc Cucurella but Brighton are demanding a fee of £50million, which Manchester City are unwilling to pay.

26 year old Spanish left-back Grimaldo has now been offered to Manchester City and a deal could be done with Benfica for as little as £15million.

The left-back made 47 appearances for Benfica in all competitions last season and was a key player in a side that made it to the Champions League quarter-finals, eventually losing out to Liverpool.

Should Oleksandr Zinchenko’s exit be confirmed, Joao Cancelo will be the only recognised senior left-back at the club.
