Manchester City’s £67.5million bid for Croatian international Josko Gvardiol has been rejected by RB Leipzig according to German outlet Bild.

The 20-year-old enjoyed an impressive first season with the German club in 2021-22, making 45 appearances across all competitions as well as winning the DFB-Pokal.

Gvardiol is also attracting interest from Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. Chelsea are reportedly interested in swapping Timo Werner for the centre-back who can also play at left-back.

Leipzig, who signed Gvardiol for around £17m in 2020, are under no pressure to sell the youngster, who still has four years remaining on his contract.

Gvardiol’s versatility is one of the reasons why City are so keen to sign the 20-year-old, as the left-footed defender can also play at full-back and would negate the need for a back-up to Joao Cancelo to be signed.
