According to the Athletic, Championship side Stoke City have reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign highly-rated attacker Liam Delap on loan for the season.

The club rejected a bid of £16m for the youngster from Southampton, but appear open to letting him go on loan instead.

Delap who has been hailed by City boss Pep Guardiola as a ‘special’ player, will follow in the footsteps of his father Rory Delop in playing for Stoke City.

The move will offer him the opportunity to play regular senior football and get his development off the ground after dominating the youth scene for the past three years.
