Official: Manchester City midfielder leaves the club

With hours left to the end of the transfer window, Manchester City midfielder Claudio Gomes has joined Italian club Palermo on a permanent deal.

The 22 year old defensive midfielder joined Manchester City from French club Paris Saint-Germain in 2018. He made a total of two substitute appearances for the first-team.

Gomes spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Dutch club PSV Eindhoven where he furthered his development with the Dutch team’s reserve side.

He remained with City’s Elite Development Squad as we lifted the PL2 title for the first time in the 2020/21 season, making 20 appearances in total for our Under-23s.

He then furthered his development and experience by spending the 2021/22 season on loan with Barnsley, making 32 appearances in total for the Oakwell side, scoring once.

Everyone at Manchester City wishes Claudio every success in his future career.
