Manchester City set a Premier League record for transfer earnings after earning almost £200 million from player sales this summer, according to The Telegraph.

Manchester City sold 12 players this summer including Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus, raising £193 million from sales this summer. This comfortably beat the record of £165 million Chelsea brought in five years ago.

Manchester City also set a record for the most transfer earnings by a British club in a calendar year, with the £55 million sale of Ferran Torres to Barcelona in January meaning the champions have brought in £248 million in 2022 and are sitting on a net transfer profit of £125.9 million for the year.

Manchester City have been smart in the transfer market this summer. The Premier League champions were still able to make a net profit of £125.9million despite signing Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, Manuel Akanji, Sergio Gomez, Kalvin Phillips and goalkeeper Ortega Stefan.
