Man City identity ideal replacement for £100million Jack Grealish

Manchester City are interested in signing Villarreal’s free-scoring left winger Alex Baena, according to Futbol Fichajes.

Alex Baena has broken into the Villarreal first-team this year after a successful spell at Girona on loan last season and has now caught the attention of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

Baena has impressed so far this season since being trusted to become part of the starting line-up. In 10 games this season, he has scored 6 goals and contributed to 2 assists.

All six of Baena’s goals have come in just 368 minutes of action. That equates to a goal every 61 minutes. For comparison, Erling Haaland is finding the net at a ratio of just two minutes better per goal (every 59 minutes).

Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are also interested in signing the 21 year old Spanish winger.

Baena is under contract at Villarreal until 2025 and he reportedly has a release clause of just €35million.
