Manchester City have identified the next manager after Pep Guardiola should the Spanish tactician leave the club when his new contract expires.

Guardiola signed a two-year contract with the club until 2025 and the Manchester City hierarchy have identified a replacement should Guardiola leave in 2025.

According to Spanish media outlet Sport, former Manchester City assistant and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been identified as the next Manchester City manager.

Arteta’s Arsenal are Premier League leaders, five points ahead of second-place Manchester City. Arteta’s Arsenal contract expires in 2025, the same year Guardiola’s current Manchester City contract expires.

Manchester City will face competition from Spanish side Barcelona for Arteta, the report claims.

This obviously depends on how things go at Camp Nou. Faith in Xavi Hernandez is not wavering, but should things take a turn, Arteta will no doubt be a prime candidate.
