Graeme Souness has warned Manchester City to expect a potential bidding war if the Premier League champions want to sign England midfielder Jude Bellingham.

“I think he’s fabulous and destined to be a star, unless he gets a big head on those shoulders or he gets a bad injury,” Souness said.

“He’ll be getting a very good education where he is currently, and I’d imagine next year he’ll leave Dortmund.

“The really big guys – if it’s a bidding war between Man City and Real Madrid over who will win or where will the boy really want to end up.

“He’s got great athleticism, already got an old head on young shoulders, you see a bit of everything a midfield player needs to have, sees the picture early and delivers on it, will chip in with goals, got great size, and it’s hard to pick a fault in him. I think he’s going to be an absolute star.”

Borussia Dortmund are said to be holding out for a fee between £120-£150million for the transfer of Bellingham amid interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City.
