According to a report by Football Insider, Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is set to be handed a pay rise if he joins Barcelona this summer.

Gundogan’s Manchester City contract expires at the end of the season and Barcelona are keen on signing the 32 year old German midfielder as a free agent in the summer.

Barcelona are struggling financially and have turned to the free agent market for summer signings, but they are still willing to offer Gundogan a pay rise on his current City deal to lure him to Camp Nou.

Gundogan reportedly earns around £140,000 per week at Manchester City.

Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring Gundogan’s situation at City, but Barcelona remain firm favourites to sign him this summer.
