Former Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro has insisted Real Madrid will be too strong for Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.

Manchester City welcome Real Madrid to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday for the second-leg of the semi-final clash with the first-leg ending 1-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

Cannavaro said: “Yes, Real Madrid are one step away from the Champions League final again. Another year. It was a great game, both teams played well. The result is that everything will be decided at the Manchester City stadium.

“I know Real Madrid well and I am convinced that they will go to Manchester to win. Real Madrid are favourites in the second leg, even away. It is clear that this season in La Liga they are not going well.

“They bet everything on focusing on the Champions League. And let’s not kid ourselves – the Champions League is always more important than the championship.”
