According to Opta, Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker was the fastest player in the Premier League in the just concluded season with a top speed of 37.31 km/h.

Brennan Johnson of Nottingham Forest was the second fastest player with a top speed of 36.70 km/h. Mykhailo Mudryk of Chelsea comes third with a top speed of 36.63 km/h. Anthony Gordon of Everton comes fourth with a top speed of 36.61 km/h while Darwin Núñez of Liverpool came fifth with a top speed of 36.53 km/h.

When asked whether he was still as quick as he used to be, Walker said last month: “I’m 32 but I’m not old, I still feel great, fit, bar the injury with my groin before the World Cup.

“I’ve kept myself in good shape, I look after myself off the field. I work in the gym.

“I have to thank my parents and their genetics, some players start to slow down. One of the sports science lads said I hit 37.5kph (23.3mph), I’m not getting any slower.”
