According to Spanish outlet SPORT via Daily Mail, Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan have been convinced by Barcelona to move to Spain this summer as a free agent.
The report states: “Ilkay Gundogan is reportedly on the verge of joining Barcelona with the Spanish club’ offer of a three-year fixed contract said to have convinced the midfielder.
“The German’s City contract expires this summer, meaning clubs outside England could negotiate the terms of a free-transfer move from January.
“And Barcelona have made the most appealing offer to Gundogan, who has so far rejected City’s proposals of an extension.
“Sport report that the Catalan outfit initially offered him a two-year deal because of his age, with an optional third. And that third year has now become permanent to get the deal over the line.
“It is believed the 66-cap international and his family are keen to live in Spain after several years in Manchester.
“Barcelona manager Xavi is looking to bolster his midfield following the departure of Sergio Busquets after 18 years.
“Gundogan has played 49 times in all competitions this season, contributing nine goals and seven assists.”
