Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez was the shining star, as City came from behind to beat Red Star Belgrade 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
City created lots of chances in the first-half but couldn’t score, only for the visitors to take the lead just before half-time.
Alvarez levelled the scoresheet immediately after the restart. After which a superb free-kick from the Argentine bypassed the wall into the net put Pep Guardiola’s side ahead in the game.
City midfielder Rodri made it 3-1 for the defending Champions, as City eased to a deserved victory.
After the match, Alvarez expressed his delight in his brace, as he said: “Yeah I’m more than happy to help the team.
“We created a lot of chances tonight. It wasn’t just Erling [Haaland] who couldn’t find the net.
“But, I’m very happy to help the team and keep going.
“We’re playing very well together. It helps that we’re winning and playing very well at the moment.
“I’m doing my best to adapt to this new position and to keep growing and to try and be the free option that is available.”
