Man City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Mateo Kovacic is at the latter stage of his recovery as he is set to train with the team soon.

The former Chelsea midfielder has been on the sidelines for sometime, with other teammates missing City’s last three games against West Ham, Red Star Belgrade and Nottingham Forest.

After the victory over Nottingham Forest, Pep Guardiola assured that the Croatian will be back to action soon.

“Soon. Soon. Tomorrow [Sunday], I think he’s going to train with the team already,” said the boss.

“Today [Saturday] he made a partial [training], but we didn’t take the risk with the injury he had in the front of the leg – it’s riskier than other places.

“But tomorrow [Sunday] he’ll start to train.”
