Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji has said Pep Guardiola is the best coach any player can ever encounter in the world of football.

The Spanish coach took City through a record-breaking campaign last term, as Man City won the UEFA Champions League for the first time and also claimed the treble.

Akanji who is now in his third year as a City player said: “I can tell you that Guardiola is by far the best manager I have ever come across. I have learnt so much from him on the pitch.

“When you join City, football suddenly seems very different, but he makes you pick things up very quickly. But that human aspect, added to it, makes him absolutely fantastic.”
