Manchester City may have already have a top replacement for manager Pep Guardiola pending when the Spaniard decides to leave.
Girona boss Michel Sanchez has impressed Man City owners as the Spanish club is also owned by City football Group.
They currently sit at the top of the La Liga table two points above Real Madrid and four points above Barcelona having won 11 games and recorded just a draw and a defeat.
Sanchez has attracted praises from the club sporting director Quique Carcel who claims that his manager has all the qualities to take over the reigns from Pep at City one day.
Via Mundo Deportivo he said,: “Sanchez] has the talent to lead a big club like Manchester City [but] still needs time to get there to this type of benches.
“City plays football that Míchel, with a smaller club, is being able to do. Although for him to train them, a lot of coordination has to happen, like Pep making the decision to leave.
“[He’s] happy in the team, with a contract and with the desire to continue making the project great. The pressures in Girona are different from those he may have on a bigger bench.”
With Pep Guardiola establishing himself as one of the best in the history of the league winning everything there is to win at the club, the 48-year-old Girona coach will indeed have huge boots to fill if he does make the switch in future.
Guardiola’s contract at City will expire in 2025 and there’s a possibility that he may not renew and Michel could be one of the names that could succeed him.
