Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva has broken the silence on his decision to stay at the Etihad, after turning down offers from Saudi Arabia.
Bernardo Silva has been a prime target for La Liga champions FC Barcelona, but remained with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Most recently, the Portuguese attracted huge interests from top European clubs including from Paris Saint-Germain, whilst the emergence of the Saudi Arabian market offered a new dilemma.
Speaking in an interview with Portuguese media outlet RTP this week, as translated and relayed by B24, Bernardo Silva opened up on his decision to remain at Manchester City despite the intrigue over Saudi Arabia’s pursuit.
“I would lie if I said I didn’t think (about the big- money offers from Saudi Arabia),” the Portugal international admitted.
“What interested me was the heat of playing a UEFA Champions League semi-final, listening to the (Etihad) stadium going wild after scoring against (Real) Madrid in the semi-finals or when we won the final against Inter. I didn’t want to give up on that.”
