Man City boss Pep Guardiola was full of praises for Erling Haaland after he became the fastest player in the history of the Premier League to net 50 goals.

The Norwegian achieved this feat in the 1-1 draw against Liverpool which was his 48th game – 17 fewer than the initial record holder Andy Cole.

Speaking after the game, Guardiola said: “Just 50? Incredible! It was really good. The action from Nathan was perfect. Erling, we know the quality he has.

“Some moments we have to find him a little bit more.

“The header from Julian’s cross was over, in front of the goal it’s a goal.

“We said to Jeremy [Dokul, go to byline. You invite him to go too much.

“Erling shoots and keeper makes a good save but football is like that.

“Another day, Rodri in Stamford Bridge. Shoot, deflection, goal. Football is like that. We have to accept it.

“After this action we concede which was really well done because [Mohamed] Salah is excellent and [Trent] Alexander-Arnold with his finishing.

“We concede few against this team.”
