Man City defender Manuel Akanji has expressed satisfaction in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool at the Etihad.

City took the lead after Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker committed an error landing the ball to Nathan Ake who set up Erling Haaland for the opening goal before an 80th minute strike from Alexander-Arnold ensured that the points were shared at the Etihad.

Despite not claiming all three points, Akanji was pleased with the team’s overall performance.

However, he admitted that the team must work on keeping clean sheets.

He said: “We had a good performance – we controlled the game.

“We defended really well and created chances up front. There’s always room to improve – we conceded goal and didn’t keep a clean sheet, it’s Something we need to work on.”
