Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has become the fastest player to net 40 goals in the UEFA Champions League.

Haaland reached this milestone in the Champions League following his strike against RB Leipzig in Tuesday night’s clash.

It took just 35 matches for our striker to achieve such feat, ten games faster than previous record holder Ruud van Nistelrooy who required 45 appearances to hit the figure.

PSG star Kylian Mbappe is third fastest on the list taking 59 matches while Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski – needed 61 games each.

This was the 12th time Haaland has scored against RB Leipzig, at least five more than he has scored against any other opponent he has ever faced.

The Norwegian striker has netted 17 Champions League goals for City after recording 15 for his former side Borussia Dortmund and eight for Red Bull Salzburg.
