Owing to Man City’s historic Champions League victory last season, the Etihad Club will participate in the FIFA Club World Cup later this month in Saudi Arabia.
Although the tournament kicks off on Tuesday 12th of December, City would not be in action until Sunday 19th of December as we will be joining in the semi-final stage of the competition.
With the FIFA Club World Cup consisting of various champions from across the globe, Manchester City are allowed to start the FIFA Club World Cup campaign at the Semi-Final stage due to the club’s status as UEFA Champions League winners.
It can be agreed that becoming Champions of Europe is the most difficult accomplishment compared to what the other teams taking part in the FIFA Club World Cup have achieved.
Also, Manchester City confirmed on the club’s official website that the status as reigning European champions is the reason for starting the FIFA Club World Cup at the semi-final stage.
