Manchester City are on the brink of signing Partizan Belgrade attacking midfielder Matija Popovic, according to Football Insider via The Hard Tackle.
The 17-year-old came through the ranks at FK Vojvodina before moving to Partizan Belgrade in 2021.
The attacking midfielder is in top form and has scored 21 goals and assisted five more in 25 games for the Partizan youth side.
Popovic will leave Partizan Belgrade as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of December and Manchester City will have to pay the Serbian side a development fee due to Popovic’s age, something that could prove to be a bargain in the long term.
Manchester City have offered the teenager a lucrative five year contract that includes a clause that should reward him handsomely for meeting targets.
Italian side AC Milan are however hoping to beat Manchester City to the transfer of the teenager.
