Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is the lead scorer in the top five European Leagues during the 2023 campaign.
The Norwegian has been in the top 5 list for the past four years having netted 37 in 2023, 43 in 2021 and 33 in 2020 for Borussia Dortmund.
Haaland scored 44 across the last 12 months, which put him one ahead of Harry Kane, who bagged 43 for Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich. He was also two in front of PSG’s Kylian Mbappe on 42, seven ahead of Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez on 37 and 14 in front of Liverpool’s Mo Salah on 30.
Haaland’s 44 goals in 2023 were broken down as 42 inside the box, two outside the box and 10 from the penalty spot.
He became the third player to score five goals in a single Champions League game.
It also put him up to 33 goals in 26 Champions League games, reaching the 30 goal milestone in fewer matches than any other player in the competition’s history – and becoming the youngest player to reach 30 goals in Champions League history at 22 years and 236 days.
He won Premier League Golden Boot, European Golden Shoe, Etihad Player of the Season, Premier League Player of the Season, Premier League Young Player of the Season, FWA Men’s Footballer of the Year, Ballon d’or Men’s Gerd Muller Trophy, UEFA Men’s Player of the Season, BBC Sports Personality World Sport Star of the Year, NWEFA Premier League Player of the Season and also appeared in the Champions League Team of the Season.
