Kevin De Bruyne marked his return to Premier League action with a superb goal and an assist, resulting in Manchester City 3-2 win against Newcastle United, marking City’s first win in three visits to St James Park.

City received an early scare as Alexander Isak was played behind the Cityzens defence in the second minute and teed up Sean Longstaff for the midfielder to slide the ball home. The goal was however ruled out due to the Swede being offside. Ederson was then subbed off after being injured from a collision with Longstaff.

Pep Guardiola’s side made several attempts as Bernardo Silva missed the target and Jérémy Doku’s attempt was blocked.

The opener finally came in the 26th minute when Kyle Walker’s cross was met by an astonishing flick from Silva recording his third goal in five matches. However, things turned around pretty quickly, as City found themselves behind following two outstanding goals in three minutes after Silva hit a wonderful effort that Nick Pope tipped onto the woodwork. Isak latched onto a superb pass from Bruno Guimaräes, cut inside Walker, and left Stefan Ortega helpless for the fifth goal in his last five matches. Anthony Gordon then followed suit by working space from Walker and curling his own brilliant effort into the bottom corner.

Bent on finding an equaliser, Man City pushed forward but Julián Álvarez’s free-kick and Phil Foden’s effort were denied by the impressive  Martin Dúbravka.

De Bruyne was introduced in the 69th minute, and found a way out for his team five minutes later, as he drilled a well-placed shot through Fabian Schär’s legs and into the bottom corner.

Kevin De Bruyne didn’t back down even with the clock ticking down as the Belgian found fellow substitute Oscar Bobb with an amazing pass, and Bobb equally thrilled the eye with an impressive quick feet to score his first PL goal and earn Man City’s sixth consecutive win in all competitions. Newcastle, on the other hand have lost each of their last four league matches despite their valiant display.
