Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has expressed his pleasure in making Pep Guardiola’s starting XI in City’s 3-1 victory over Burnley on Wednesday night, since his return from injury.
The Belgian midfielder had made impressive appearances from the bench over the last month, with an eye catching performance against Newcastle United where he came on to record a goal and an assist in a 3-2 victory at St James’ Park.
“I’m happy, it’s been six months. I’ve been working really hard and training for a long time,” said De Bruyne.
“I’ve been coming off the bench three or four times, I can’t remember exactly. I’ve felt pretty good.
“I feel a little bit tired now but I think it’s normal. I still need a couple of more games and minutes under my belt but I’m happy with the way I’m performing.
“I didn’t expect to be out for five or six months. But it’s a good thing.”
