Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has admitted that the 2023/2024 Premier League title race is a battle between more than just three teams.
Pep Guardiola’s side are five points behind table toppers Liverpool who are on 51 points from 22 games, but with a game in hand. Arsenal also are third on the same amount of points as City but having played 22 games like the Reds.
When asked if the top three teams would be the main contenders for the title, Guardiola said that the likes of Tottenham and Aston Villa, both three points behind City and the Gunners, are also in on the chase.
“I think it’s not just three,” said the manager in his post-match press conference.
“Tottenham are still there, Aston Villa are still there. It can change.
“My feeling when I see Arsenal playing, they control many aspects of the game and it’s quite similar with Liverpool.
“When you see the games, every game they are better than their opponent.
“They can lose games, of course, but they are better.
“I know how strong they are but still we are there and we want to continue.
“We are there and the important thing is we are there.
“We did our job and now we recover and go to a place to face a team [Brentford] who last season we couldn’t take one point.
“Always for us they have been really tough. One game at a time and we’ll see what happens.”
