We are confident – Akanji says ahead of Champions League quarter-final

Manchester City did their job in the Champions League clash against Copenhagen, as City won the tie 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium, and 6-2 on aggregate.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji was pleased to go through, and is confident City will scale through the last eight as well.

On the quarter-final draw, he said: “We will see how the tournament goes. We feel good right now. We’re confident going into the next round. We are one of the favourites but have to prove it.”

Akanji opened the scoring for Manchester City in the fifth minute, before Julian Alvarez made it 2-0 four minutes later.

Akanji said of the goals: “The first two goals in first half made it easier for us. We tried to do our best and did what we had to do.”

On his goal, he said: “I saw the ball coming. It was perfect for my foot. I was really happy about it. It was our aim to score early.”
