Manchester City Knocked out of the Carabao Cup

Pep Guardiola’s side has been edged out of the Carabao Cup following a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle.

The Cityzens dominated the game but had nothing to show forth, as Alexander Isak netted the only goal of the match in the 52nd minute, forcing City to play with urgency all to no avail, till the referee’s final whistle.

City made eight changes while Newcastle made 10 as both managers took the opportunity to give vital minutes to some players who don’t get as many first team minutes as others.

City enjoyed a complete dominance of 73% possession in the first 30 minutes of the game but were unable to utilise it as the teams went in goalless at the break.

With the Blues making a number of errors in possession, the host finally broke the deadlock as Alexander Isak found the back of the net after a low cross from Joelinton.

Pep Guardiola picked up a yellow card after venting his frustration, first for a challenge on Bobb then a clumsily kick on Gomez by the already-booked Guimarães.
